  1. How about a fun day of running and celebration on Sept. 8? Share with your readers, and happy running!

Girl Scouts is launching a movement to achieve gender equity in leadership in just one generation. This mission bursts into action on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, with Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana’s inaugural Cookie Classic 5k in Chicago’s Grant Park. It is a great race for beginners, an enjoyable race for seasoned veterans, and an event to which you can bring the whole family! Each runner receives a box of Girl Scout cookies and a T-shirt, and there is a celebration afterward with food, entertainment, and fun. Interested participants can register here: https://register.gorun.org/cookieclassic5k

    • I actually saw an ad for this race, and as a former Girl Scout, I was considering registering. It looks so much fun!

Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s a good idea, since I am running a Half Marathon on Sept 2 and another one on Sept 9.

      • We also have a “celebration only” option where you can come enjoy the live entertainment and activities that follow the fun run. We’ve got Girl Scout great Melinda Caroll scheduled to perform along with pop group Savvy and the sensational 60s band The Buckinghams! You can use the day to take a break from running and reconnecting with Girl Scout friends.
